I liked this book. It's about Tony Youn becoming a doctor. It's probably pretty accurate about of a young man which means 70% is devoted to sex and thinking about sex or Tony's inability to get sex. I could have done with a lot less of that. There was a bit about how poor he would be unless he became a surgeon and how much in debt he was going to be upon graduating which I found disingenuous. Come on, anyone know any poor doctors? Unless we're comparing millionaires to multimillionaires. Once they practice for ten years none of them are in any kind of dire financial straits unless they're money morons. So that kind of rankled. But it's a pleasant tale, well told and I enjoyed it. Made it only about 79 pages into the book. Just too boring about his life as a high schooler...nothing interesting is happening, although he could have an interesting story as a Chinese American in a small all-white town, he just didn't show me how that felt or the challenges he faced. He just said there were challenges. But I don't know what they were and how it felt, and then all of a sudden he's a popular kid...again, why/how? Gave up on this one. Not even worth it as a "summer read"
Absolutely loved it. A great medical based story enveloped in humor. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
