Brad Torrence is a journalist and Cory Wolfe is a doctor, they meet the day that Brad goes to his house to interview him for a story for the newspaper he works. Brad thinks that Cory is married due to the newspaper add advertising the sale of new baby things ,never used. When Cory tells Brad his story of loss but also explained he is a gay man , the focus of the story changes. Brad shows interest for Cory and they start seeing each other after the article is published. Brad has another lead for a different story and enlist the help of Matt , Cory's brother , about corruption in a construction company. Cory is afraid of something happening but also he has still his grief and an offer to move to another state to do research ... When tragedy strikes some decisions are made and they need to decide if want to be together. Cory is a 26 year old anesthesiologist who was scheduled to adopt a baby boy from his pregnant friend, until the friend died a sudden death. He is distraught over the loss of his almost-son, but he is trying to move on with his life. He places an advertisement with the local newspaper to sell the baby furniture he bought. After reading the advertisement, Brad, a 23 year old "cub" reporter, wanted to write a story about distraught mothers who lose their children. So, he sets up an appointment with Cory to get the scoop about the sale of the furniture. During the interview, Brad learns the truth about the proposed adoption. But, a spark of romance is also kindled between these two characters. And that is the basic premise of the book. Along the way, Brad gets involved in reporting a dangerous story about corruption in construction projects, and Cory gets news about a possible fantastic job offer in Atlanta, Georgia. Needless to say, both opportunities raise serious angst between these two new lovers. The corruption news story gives rise to a death threat against Brad, and Brad gets shot with a serious gunshot wound to the chest. Of course, he is brought to the hospital where Cory works, and Cory is called to be the anesthesiologist without knowing who the patient is. It's touch and go for a while, but suffice it to say, Brad pulls through, and Cory has an epiphany about his love for Brad. The epilogue of this story is a little difficult to swallow, and, to be perfectly frank, I believe that it's misplaced in this book. I can't imagine these two main characters, in the short span of their relationship (and with the very heavy demands of each of their careers) taking the monumental step of adopting a blind baby. Just did not make sense to me, Like all Andrew Grey books, the characters are well developed. But for the epilogue, it would have received five stars from me. But taking into account the totality of the book, his book receives 3.5 stars.
