This was an incredibly cute romance novel of sorts, and easily would've earned five stars and then some, if only the female lead hadn't been so willing to put up with being miserable for so very long. I started to get a bit sick of her increasingly thin excuses about halfway through. In my opinion, she stayed with Greg for waaaaaaaaaay too long. She gave up her identity without even thinking about fighting for it. That just made me want to reach into my Nook and smack some sense into her at every excuse. If you are 100% miserable in the relationship, leave it. End of story. Other than that, though, this was such a great story. So sad that Emily had to have such an aggravating character flaw. In Search of a Love Story is the first in a series by Rachel Schurig. In this book, we meet Emily Donovan as she searches for her love story. After her latest breakup, Emily is ready to call it quits with men. Having Dylan cheat on her was the end of that romance. Can she trust any man again? Her friends throw a romance intervention to see what she is doing wrong. They dissect her love affairs up to now and come up with what they think she is doing wrong. Of course they are basing this on romance books and their own dating. Only Elliot stays out of this. First she is to read romance books and magazines so she can get a feel for romance. They take her shopping and revamp her wardrobe and teach her how to set a table and to eat properly. Then they set up a series of movie nights where she watches romantic movies back to back until she is almost sick. The things they tell her she is doing wrong are so funny. When they finally think she is ready, they set up a series of dates for her. She goes on several horrific dates until she meets Greg. Greg seems to be perfect. He treats her like a queen and introduces her to many of the “right” people. However, he also suggests she change her hair, the way she dresses and acts. He does this gradually but Elliot sees the changes and brings this up to her. The other two see nothing wrong with Greg. She begins to change to fit Greg’s standards. Will she listen to Elliot and catch herself before it is too late? Does she want to be the woman she is becoming? Will Elliot be willing and able to help her? Will she ever find love?

Funny and easy to read...I would dare say a bit educational.

Too juvenile. Had to skip part of the book. Too boring.
