Good quality historical romance. I enjoyed this.It was a comfortable read. I smiled at times. There’s a nice long build up of the couple gradually falling in love. The conflict that kept them apart appealed to me. Lucian grew up on the streets with a gang of kids who were his family. Frannie was part of the group. Lucian and others love her like a sister. Lucian wants to get married and he believes Frannie is the one for him, but he doesn’t realize it’s sisterly love. He’s kind of stupid about his emotions that way, but it was believable confusion. It takes a long time for Catherine and Lucian to get together, but I was ok with that. Although I frequently wanted to shake Lucian to make him hurry up and realize whom he loved.Catherine is a strong, smart, loyal, good heroine. I was pleased the author did not resort to contrived conflict devices other than the following. To enjoy this you need to suspend disbelief. In the beginning Catherine approaches Lucian asking him to kill someone for her. You need to be able to just go with it without thinking of consequences and related issues.There are a few sex scenes that are short with not much detail. Jack took him from the street when he was 6 years old. he was crying near garbage when he found Luke. then Luke met Frainne a little girl who he was always want to protect because they all lived in the street and get money from pick pocket and stealing. until one day little Frainne was rape by someone (Luke uncle). Luke and his friend was so angry and then they kill the raper. but Luke was the one who stab him with knife.when he was going to be hang because of murder. a man save him because he thought that Luke was his grandson from his first son. He has been looking for Luke for a long time. He saw Luke similarity with his first son and the Luke silver eyes that belong only in the family. but Luke never remember his childhood before he was in the street.His grandfather raise him and make him his heir and when he died Luke become an earl.Luke always fancy Frainne so he wants to married her, but she don't want to married him because she was an ordinary people and he was a noble.so Luke has a plan. he asked Catherine to help him teach Frainne become a noble lady and he will kill the man for her.but Catherine already fall for Luke when he kissed her that one time.Catherine has a friend Winne. Winne was married to a duke, who was suspected killed his two former wife and he was very abusive. he always hit and punch and slap Winne when he was angry. so Catherine afraid that one day her friend will died because of him. and that why she asked Luke to kill him. after all Luke have already kill one person.so Catherine began to teach Frainne become a lady every midnight at Luke bar. And that why the flower of love become to blossom. Luke always pick her and drop at her house to teach Frainne. Until one day they were attack while ridding back to Catherine place. someone tried to kill Luke but Catherine save him by holding the murderer knife with her hand. while she was being stitching to heal her wound, Luke was kiss her to help her forget the pain. and of course they both enjoy it more that they should be.Luke became more and more confuse with his feeling toward Catherine, because he wants to marry Frainne but he desired catherine.one day winne held a party at her place, Catherine help her and invited Luke to the party. but his husband (duke) wasn't pleased with it. so he hit and stab Winne until she was nearly death. but catherine and luke save her right on time. they hide winne and her son. but draw the duke to catch them as a decoy. They run to Luke mansion and stay there until the duke catch them. in that place catherine give herself to luke, because she will never give herself to another man beside him. even though luke will married someone else, she willing to give herself only for that time.and luke of course can't deny her, because truly in deep of his heart he always desire her.finally the duke came and tried to fight luke, but luke succeed to capture him and lock him in the attic. and they had a plan to fake the duke death by burning a corpse and tell everybody that there was an accident and the duke died. and for the duke they will sent him to remote island and tell him never return or he will kill him for real.in that place too luke regain his childhood memory, that he was after all really the grandson of the earl. and his childhood friend Jack help his uncle killed both his parent to gain the title earl.problem solve....but not for both of luke and catherine. they have to come back to real life and luke will married frainne.a month after that catherine father died and her brother came back from traveling around the world. she was pregnant with luke child. but luke hasn't made up his mind, still confuse will his feeling.not until frainne tell him the truth about his own feeling for catherine and open his eyes that he loved catherine. so he rush to catherine and asked her to be his wife. and of course she except it.the end
