I did not know of this book's existence until I discovered it was a prequel of sorts to one of Roberts'/Robb's "in Death" stories. Though it has a definite connection to a crime that Eve Dallas is in charge of solving some years into the future, this book was written in the style that you would expect from Nora Roberts, not Robb. It was a kick that some of the characters even showed up, having aged considerably, but still alive and well. Again, this book was a book that was lent to me. If I had seen it on display somewhere I would have disregarded it completely. And I did for awhile as well on my own bookshelf until last weekend. And then I tore through the book in a couple of days. It was just what I needed. An intriguing story, romance, danger. . .it was like watching a Lifetime movie but with more (and better) sex scenes. Of course everything was tied up into a neat little package in the end but for a moment there was hope that the plot would explode into numerous possibilities, leaving the protagonist screwed-metaphorically speaking. But this is in essence a romance novel and needless to say that did not happen. Still a good story though, would read a Nora Roberts book again.
