About book I'm Not Getting Out Of Here So Easily LP (2014)
I've read a lot of books by comedians, and this was just about the most unfunny one I've ever read. I cannot even categorize it, beyond one long run-on sentence of free association. I am someone who is hyper and jumps tracks frequently, but even I could not follow Saget's leads into one topic and jumps to the next, without ever really SAYING anything. The entire book is like one long promise to tell you something, and then he never does. It's not even full of the dick jokes he professes to love. I never watched Full House, but I did watch a lot of AFHV, but this did nothing to make me like him any further. I feel bad for him, with a family that liked to drop dead before the age of forty, but other than that, I can't think of a single thing to make me recommend this book. It's a shame trees had to die to print it. I couldn't even bear to pick up another book for 2 weeks.Sorry, Bob. I'm not even convinced you're that dirty. I felt I had to slog through this and finish it because I spent money on the eBook, but man, was it painful. I knew about Saget's raunchy standup act, having seen part of a special on t.v., and I'm not easily offended, so that isn't where my dislike of this book is coming from--I just don't think he's funny. And I think the raunchier you are, the funnier you'd better be, or what's the point? So why did I buy the book? I heard Saget talking about it on NPR, and about his family story, which is quite sweet and quite sad. But every other sentence in the book is a scatological reference or perverse comment, and they were juvenile and distracting. I think he probably is a very nice guy with an interesting story to tell, but this didn't work for me. At all.
