About book I'm Dreaming Of A Black Christmas (2010)

Funny, but not much laugh-out-loud. This is basically Lewis being his usual acerbic self on the surface while not so subtlely revealing that he's a big softie when it comes to the friends who make him part of their holiday celebrations. The reviewers who only saw anger and griping missed the point: he's dreaming of a Black Christmas, but he's really warm and fuzzy about it. 3.5 stars--probably would have been four if I'd listened instead of read, though his voice came through loud and clear. I like Lewis Black, though I wouldn't call myself an avid fan. Mostly I know him from his appearances on The Daily Show, and I usually find those rants hilarious. I think a good chunk of his comedic effect is physical, so that doesn't translate too well to audio book form; however, I'm sure the audio book version is better than the print book version since I still get to hear his voice at least.Anyway, I found this book to be what I expected for the most part. It wasn't quite as apoplectic as I remember some of his rants being, and there was more heartfelt reflection than I would have guessed, but I was entertained.Still, I'm sure it would be far better to see him in person sometime.

Do You like book I'm Dreaming Of A Black Christmas (2010)?

So wrong but so funny. The 'Thanksgiving dinner' and 'Santa suit' bits had me in tears.

A far more compelling Lewis Black than the comedic one, whom I adore.

Another great book by a great cynic.
