I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is the second book of the "Children Of The Moon" series but the first one that I have read. I have been a longtime reader of romance novels but recently I have been dabbling in the paranormal. This book is a solid blending of the two genres. The story was original. Abigail's handicap makes the reader feel compassionate while her determination to reunite with her sister and hide her affliction inspires pride. She is a very strong character who never gives up. It is very refreshing to see this. The Niall/Guaire situation did not need to be included in this novel. If it was left out completely, no one would miss it. However, I am not as offended as other critics are. I enjoyed some of the mystery surrounding their conflict. Perhaps they need a stand alone book or further backstory. Overall, I enjoyed the book. 4.5 stars. I am anxious to read other books in this series. Like this one. I like the h a lot for having the courage to face all the difficulties throwing her way. Though in general I hate h that seems too desperate by clinging on to the relationship, I didn't resent her for doing so. In fact I quite admire her never say die attitude and knowing when to go for it when it is worth it. I like the H too for being all protective but gruff. Reminds me a bit of garwood's H. His stubbornness in acknowledging the h is a bit baffling considering his explanation in the end seems to make him not as strong in his feelings for her as I had originally assumed. I just thought it was his experience that got him to be so reluctant but I do love it when he finally fessed up.I love this world monroe has created. First because it is a historical, second because of the intriguing way the couple interacts. The scenting the mindspeak, all very primal but also poignantly sweet. I also adore the supporting cast here. The couple from the 1st installment and also all the folks in the keep, be it good or bad, all have very distinct characters that I like. One of my favorite scenes in this book for some reason is the other wolf couple, when the wolf finally showed himself and they had a really sweet union with no words, just a connection and touches. The rating I can't explain. Probably because I was too fascinated by the background to really focus on the couple much, or I was hoping there would be more conversation, more feelings disclosed and more poignancy. There really is no real life threatening villain around here for H to charge in with a white horse, so it's mainly character driven but I just feel not enough.
