This could have been a great book! I love my trashy "historical" thrillers as much as anyone, but this book dropped the ball at chapter 35, when it decided to spend less time on the mystery and more time on [spoilers] human sacrifice. I GET IT, the killer is one big intelligent bad-ass, but the more he killed and the more time spent on the corpses of his victims, the more mundane and predictable the book got. I think much more time should have been focused on the dig site and uncovering secrets and less on pseudo genetics. What was with the emphasis on IQ? I'm dumb enough about religious history but I do know that IQ is not a great measure of someone's actual intelligence, and having a scientist say that "gayness is linked to intelligence"? Nope. Towards the end the villain just seemed like a 14 year old boy screaming "MY IQ IS HIGHER THAN YOURS, I WINNNNNNN" to someone he's arguing with on an internet discussion board. I enjoyed this story. In a similar vein to Da Vinci code and I do like this kind of read.I was fascinated to find that parts of the story were actually based on fact and found myself researching the "true" bits and wandering away from the book. Though I do quite like to read this way. On the negative side, it did run on a bit sometimes and repeat itself. Also some of the torture and sacrifice scenes were a bit to gruesome.
Do You like book Il Segreto Della Genesi (2008)?
Even though my views vary GREATLY, I enjoyed this book. It was a pretty quick read:)
