About book Il Colore Trasparente Della Notte (2013)

I really enjoyed Pam's first novel - The Kommandant's Girl, but sadly this novel didn't live up to the first. The blurb on the back cover indicates the book is about Roger Dykmanns and whether or not he is guilty of betraying his brother to the Nazi's. However most of the story is set in 2009 and follows the life and loves of Charlotte - a public defender who is roped into investigating Roger's case. I found the love triangle that Charlotte is in with two brothers also on the case, to be distracting and pointless. I also found it irritating that Pam explains everything to put it into historical context. If you have never read anything about WW2 then you may need this info, but for anyone with a basic understanding of events and history, it becomes an info dump which detracts from the story telling. A quick, easy, and forgettable read. " The Things we Cherished" is a dual storyline that comes to us from author, Pam Jenoff. The present storyline is set in 2009 and involves three lawyers committed to defending a man that they believe to mistakenly be marked as a Nazi criminal who betrayed his own brother's heroic efforts to save the Jewish people. The past storyline centers on the events of the 1940's and provides the readers with the necessary "holes" in the storyline that keep us engaged. There were of course some parallels between the "romance" portion of this historical fiction-Hans is in love with his brother's wife. Jack is in love with his brother's ex. Unfortunately the storyline will only work out nicely for one of these couples. However, reader will have to find out for themselves.

Do You like book Il Colore Trasparente Della Notte (2013)?

Thin plot, endless loose ends, zero chemistry in the love triangle. Meh.
