About book If You Have To Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You (2010)

I bought this book years ago, when I had no motivation to do anything useful with my life. I bought it when I lost touch with reality and had awfully bad expectations and perceptions regarding... well everything. So, when I looked at my shelf and found this "beauty" I felt the urge to read it and see if I've really changed. I wanted to put it down after two chapters, but I finished it because I was hoping to learn something. I did not.Kelly C. lost the last bit of my respect when she had to explain that there were no cellphones and internet in the 80's... I think this says it all. Also, I'm completely sure that she wrote this to brag about her life, she's obsessed with herself (it looks really pathetic when you're reading her words). She's very mean and has no idea how to be humble and write an inspiring story. The book is such a disappointment, honestly. I thought it would be about her wisdom and useful advice to women at the beginning of their careers... But no, this is not it. (There are a few tips, for example she tells the reader to be humble and do the job without complaining. It is good advice, but basically this is all she says. Not much, if you ask me.) She also keeps giving you examples from her life, but not like life lessons (she wants them to be, but they're not), she just brags.Hated it, not recommending it. This book was actually pretty enjoyable. There was a part in the middle that I found dry and hard to get through, but I'm glad I kept going. I wouldn't recommend this book to someone who wants a road map to breaking into the fashion industry. If that's what you want, this book will leave you frustrated. If you want an insight as to how Kelly became the no-bs-power-house she is, you might just like it.
