About book I Promise Not To Suffer: A Fool For Love Hikes The Pacific Crest Trail (2013)
This was a good memoir about Gail Storey's hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. I found the first half of the book dragging a bit. However, once they made it into the Sierra's it became more entertaining and I was cheering her on. She did the hike with her really cool husband, Porter. This is a chick book. In comparison to Cheryl Stayed's, Wild; and Suzanne Roberts, Almost Somewhere; the best hiking story I enjoyed the most, by a woman, was Suzanne Roberts memoir. All three story's were about, not only their physical hike, but their internal struggles. What attracted me to this book, I Promise Not To Suffer, was that Gail was close to my age. Her insight to the adversity on the trail was interesting. I finished the book liking Gail very much and understanding her more. I would recommend this book. i enjoyed this book. It was fun to see the author go from someone who went on the pacific crest trail to support and be with her husband to the woman who did not want to go home, wanted to finished and loved the trail. I learned from them both about packing light and hiking the trail, something i might consider one day. It was a good mixture of story about the trail and hike and a story about the couple hiking the trail.

Meh. IMO, this book was just okay. I didn't really find it that captivating.
