This book is about an Elephant that breaks his trunk and tells the story to Piggy. He broke it running to Piggy to tell him a different story. Piggy ends up doing the same thing. This book is another one of Mo Willems humors books that are fun to read. One thing happens after another. This book would be a good book for preschool children to read and early elementary grades. I would have this book in my classroom because I love all of Mo Willems books and I think they are good for children to read because there is always some kind of lesson that comes out of his books. This book could also be used to teach children about safety. That it is really important to be careful or you might hurt yourself. Also, could be good book to place in a text set with the topic of safety or something about being careful. I don't know... I would say that Mo just doesn't do it for me. At least, most of the time. This was definitely cuter than his other books that are of this same format, but I still felt like it was eh... These books just don't feel like they are all that clever or intellectually stimulating. And the illustrations are just a little too simple. I still like his other books not printed in this format (or by this publisher?? Not exactly sure why there is such a difference between the two styles...)
Read this to a group of first graders today, they went nuts over it. Really cute book.

Cute. Great to take parts and read with your beginning reader. Funny story, too.
