About book I Am A Genius Of Unspeakable Evil And I Want To Be Your Class President (2009)
This book was actually more of a 2 and a half star... But goodreads doesn't do halves, so I labeled it as 2 stars. It was a quick read and only took me a day to read. I enjoyed watching the protagonist (Oliver) twist people to his will. At first, I was a little unsure to whether this 8th grader was ACTUALLY, LEGITIMATELY, REAAAALY a mastermind with billions of dollars and secret seat-warmers on the bus. (Just twist the chewing gum under the seat and it turns on). I wasn't sure if it was all in Oliver's head, but it turns out, it wasn't. There was a sense of anticipation. I was waiting for his empire to come crumbling down, or for someone to fight back. Sometimes it was funny. (I think this book was written in 2009.) Especially the bit where, a crime scene, he left Miley Cyrus' finger print! The author predicted that well, since she's at the height of her popularity nowadays. But we all know Miley OBVIOUSLY wouldn't do something like that! RIGHT?! *nudge nudge, un-spoken understanding going on here* joking!In my opinion, no, this is not young adult. It's got that Artemis fowl feely-age to it. It was a light hearted break from the more serious novels. I liked it. This was funny and fun. The footnotes were a riot.Oliver is an evil genius and a rich one. Unfortunately, he is only in the 7th grade so he can't actually run his empire. There is someone that runs the company for him, but Oliver is the one actually calling the shots.In order to hide his secret identity as an evil genius, Oliver pretends to be really dumb. Even his parents think that he is not the brightest kid. This also means that he gets picked on, he doesn't have any friends, and no one knows the real him. When he decides to run for class president everyone is surprised. How can someone with Oliver's reputation win an election even with all of his money?
