About book Hunt The Moon. By Karen Chance (2011)

This series went from "not bad" to "awesome" for me. Why? One word. Pritkin.Chance may have her hangups as a writer (as mentioned in other reviews, the info dumps are a little tedious), and her world building is sometimes a little confusing, but I love the chemistry between Cassie and Pritkin. Mircea started out ok (damned with faint praise), but the more controlling and manipulative he gets, the more I want to boot him into Anita Blake's world, because unlike Cassie, Anita can squash those annoying tendencies. Or at least kick the creep out of bed. Sorry, but a power struggle between love interests just doesn't equal sexual tension for me. Let's look at a typical scene between Cassie and Mircea."Hey Mircea, we really need to talk. Really really, I hate how you keep me in the dark about everything and try to restrict me and manage my powers for your own benefit and that of the vampire council. And stop trying to outmaneuver me because you tell yourself it's for my own good. I'm a big girl. I can decide what's good for me. You're my lover, not my father, even though I did spend all that time with you on your lap when I was a kid. Hey, are you listening? We need to work this out.""I'm listening, dulceata, just let me get close enough to touch you.""No, because every time you touch me I forget about everything except my happy place. Mircea, stay away. I said no! No! Wait! Don't! Stop! Don't. Don't... Don't stop. Don't stop. Yes! Yes!"Then she awakes cuffed to a bed two days later."Dangit, he did it again."Wash, rinse, repeat.Every time Cassie wants to talk about their relationship problems (little things like Mircea wanting to plan her life for her or telling her who she can and can't see) Mircea just hits Cassie with his sexy magical forgetting stick and Cassie can't think straight. Stellar relationship...Sooo, manipulators bad.Unless the author is the master manipulator. In that case, I'm all for some emotional manipulation. The way Chance is building up a Pritkin/Cassie climax is genius. Unless Cassie doesn't end up with Pritkin, then Ima have to say Chance is an idiot. Hunt the Moon By Karen Chanceurban Fantasy, paranormal, smokin hot guys4 KissesCassandra Palmer recently defeated a god, which you'd think would buy a girl a little time off. But it doesn't work that way when your job description is Pythia-the world's chief clairvoyant. Cassie is busier than ever, trying to learn about her power, preparing for her upcoming coronation, and figuring out her relationship with the enigmatic sexy master vampire, Mircea. But someone doesn't want Cassie to become Pythia, and is willing to go to any lengths to make sure the coronation ceremony never happens- including attacking her mother before Cassie is even born.Cassie Palmer is a young woman late 20s who should be partying with her friends and dating. Instead she is with a master vampire, and hunted by gods, demons, and some crazy anti-her wizards. And I should also mention she kind of adopted or maybe is the guardian of several misfit kids that happen to be magically inclined and that she has to learn to be some all powerful seer. Yeah you think you got it bad. Hunt the Moon is the fifth novel in this series. I normally really love these books but this one has to be my least favorite. It was so packed with action I got lost many times. I miss the conversations and sarcasm between the characters. While I love movement in my stories I felt this was just too much. However, I also know that it seemed to be needed. We needed Pritkin to do what he did to save Cassie and the only way I can conceive of doing that was to keep everyone tired and busy. I still look forward to reader the next book, because in this one some awesome stuff happened. We see another side of Pritkin, I learn to hate Mircea some more, get a new ally (I think) and finally really get some proof Jonas is off his rocker. Also here is a free novella called a Family Affair: A John Pritkin short. It is free on her website take a look."A Family Affair" is a novella set between Curse the Dawn, Cassie Palmer #4, and Hunt the Moon, Cassie Palmer #5. It contains spoilers for Cassie Palmer books 1-4.

“Candy is candy, but Chocolate is Therapy' Another action-packed Cassie Palmer book thatbegins by hitting the ground 'jumping'- literally. Cassie has a lot going on and Mercia doesn't need to add more stress. The action is non-stop again. There's a lot of time and/or space jumping, but there is one beautiful night with Cass and Mercia that allows us, and them, a time to relax. The two attempts on Cassie's life at the suite are cool and the London chase reminds me of a darker, faster version of one of the old Keystone Cops chases. Marco and Cass should have recorded their conversation about how Cass wants everybody to respect her and forced Mercia to listen to it. He creates a lot of their relationship problems himself by trying to control her. Like they say: you squeeze too tight and they'll just slip between your fingers. But then he gets the idea later anyway when Cass gives him a well-deserved ultimatum. I'm confused by Jonas' explanation of how they could be fighting Ragnarok now. He says there are supposed to be three children of Loki to overcome three gods in battle. Cass has already dealt with Thor/Apollo using the orroboros, so there are two left: Tyr/Ares and Odin. But I’m not sure which of them she was supposed to fighting this time. I think Tyr, because of the Hel/Artemis connection, but like I said: confusing. I like Fred and hope he stays on. In fact, I like the way most of her vamp guards are finally starting to learn their duties. And the descriptions of the Coronation dresses are gorgeous, though I do like Ming-de's better than Cass', but that’s just my personal taste. I'm nervous about wants been happening between Cass and Pritkin. Eventually Mercia will find out and it won't be good. Her newest mission will probably let the cat out of the bag. Fave scenes: Cass getting rid of Niall, the 7 dish supper and the battle with the three Graeae.
