This was definitely an enjoyable read. I have read about a heroines with physical disabilities but I have never read about a heroine with this kind of disability before and I really liked the way the author handled it. Alec was just so sweet about the whole thing.I have a few complaints about this one though...While I liked Juliet and Alec together, I didn't fall in love with them. I think it would have been better if maybe their chemistry was developed more before anything drastic happened between them. There were a lot of inconsistencies with the writing and there were quite a few errors that I picked up whilst reading. This story has two villains I guess you could say, but when the main villain was revealed and it was explained, it just felt like the author pulled that out of nowhere. It felt so left field and disjointed. I think it just didn't work as well as it could have. There were some unanswered questions which really annoyed me and I'm not sure if those questions are answered in the next book or not. There was also no resolution or anything between Juliet and her mother. The mother played a huge nuisance in majority of the book and then after it was like she disappeared and we don't really know what happened to her.I hope I enjoy the next book more than this one and feel more of a connection between the hero and heroine. A polished gentleman and a wallflower lady with a disability. If the story revolves strictly between the two, I probably would have liked it more. However, there is an overarching adventure/murder mystery plot in the story which to me detracted from the more important romance between the two. And of course, the "ugly ducklings" must band like the 3 musketeers and save the day. If you want adventure and a hint of suspense with the romance, this is for you. There is also the misleading title which I cannot understand since Alec is not a rake at all. Juliet did not "romance" Alec either since he saved her from a bad situation. The title hints at a light-heartedness which the murder plot, depression, and abusive background in the book is not.
