A gorgeous novel that I kept thinking about reading all day long. Tender, funny, with witty writing and a generally uplifting story about finding your path.I really enjoyed the addition of the book quotes to the novel. It was motivation to read to the next chapter, I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter. At points I wanted to just go through the whole book and read them all ahead of time, but I held back because they would always be semi-relevant to the content of the chapter.Overall, an awesome read. As an American Army brat in the 1960s, many of my friends had Japanese mothers. My mother's long time neighbor is a Japanese Army bride. This book interested me so I could get a peek into those family dynamics. Much of the novel seemed true to my outside-of-the-family observations. I have recommended it to two close friends who are like "Sue"--daughters of Japanese mothers raised in America. Can't wait to discuss with them!
Do You like book How To Be An American Housewife (2010)?
Probably more like 3.5 stars. It was good but as others mentioned it had the potential to be great.
