About book How The White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back (2014)
I did not hate this book! It wasn't my favorite in the series but the last few freaking sentences RUINED my end of book happy. It is totally acceptable for the character to have this issue--but don't do it at the end and depress the hell out of me! ProTip: do yourself a favor, at theend of the book, after the fire pit, as soon as Angel gets into her car and begins driving - STOP READING and day the following, "... and she drove off into her bright future!" the. end. So, this is the first book I've read of this series, as it was the only one available at my local bookstore. The sign of a good series? I liked Angel. She was sassy and irreverent and had a humorous way of looking at things. I also liked that she had some self-doubt, but, when her back was to the wall, she was able to rise to the occasion. Her poverty--and her stubbornness when it came to paying her own way--was very realistic. I really liked her voice--enough to pick up another book in the series. The plot was all over the place. I would have liked something a little tighter and more focused. There was a kidnapping, a maybe double cross and political skullduggery all going on at once. And Angel was having some romantic things going on in the periphery. With the exception of the last quarter of the book -- which was action-packed and excellent -- things seemed to come too easily to Angel's little group, greased not a little by one member's extraordinary hidden wealth. I gave this 3 stars, based on Angel's voice and the great closing action. If more of the book had been like the ending, I would have given it four, but I will still go back and pick up the first.

I love this series, as well as Rowland's "Demon" books. I hope she never runs out of ideas.

Pretty good until the end. I hate how she ended this.
