About book How Successful People Think Workbook (2011)

I took a lot of tidbits from this highly concise book. It's a little over a 100 pages, so it won't burden you with content, and just goes straight to the point. What this self help book does is highlight the different types of thinking that will help facilitate success-minded thinking e.g. creative, focused, independent & different other types of thinking. He goes into more detail on the different ways of thinking, and as long as they are used in conjunction with the other types of thinking, it will help one develop a holistic approach on pursuing success. Anyways, I do recommend this book. Read it and use it as a guide. Solid, grounded self-help book...in the vein of Dale Carnegie. John C. Maxwell's lays out what works in a clear, concise manner...giving helpful stories and quotes to back up his pronouncements. Similarly to Carnegie's work, "How Successful People Think: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life" is the kind of book you should probably read more than once...in order to better instill the life-lessons that Maxwell presents with tender loving care.On the surface, Maxwell's teaching comes off as...common sense. He encourages innovation and taking risks over conformity, and going with the flow. He states that big thinking leads to big results. Creating thinking, Focused thinking, Unselfish Thinking and the like all help serve one’s path toward success. Sure, it all sounds so simple, yet not enough people take these things under consideration. Certainly Maxwell’s book offers a fair amount of important value. However, I could not help but feel a little cheated, in that “How Successful People Think: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life" didn’t supply the practical steps in order to actually change my thinking. Sure, he gives generalized examples, and offers a few stories, and quotes…yet upon finishing the book, my first inspiration was to read it again at some point…as the material didn’t pour into me the same way that, say…Carnegie’s “How To Win Friends & Influence People” did. That said, Maxwell’s material is good, and certainly worth a second read.

Do You like book How Successful People Think Workbook (2011)?

Easy to read, motivational and informational. Very basic, but I definitely gathered some good ideas to implement into my own life from this little book. The author uses LOTS of quotes and wisdom from other people in this book, which I think says something all on its own! It sounds to me like he is VERY type A, which I am not (I am not going to take hours to plan out every second of the next 40 days of my life, I have life to live and kids and things come up) but I do see the value in long-term planning and living your plan. I wonder what he does in the event of a tragedy? I have a very type A business owner friend and when her mother died she scheduled a weekend to grieve. I don't get that. I bet the author is the same way.
