About book How Dogs Love Us: A Neuroscientist And His Adopted Dog Decode The Canine Brain (2013)

If there ever was a book that fit the expression, Get to the Point, this one is it. To get to the point which is how dogs perceive us, doesn't occur until Chapter 14. The first 13 chapters are about how MRI's work and how to train a dog to array in one during a scan. The last quarter of the book is good and very interesting if you love dogs. It is just a shame it takes so long to get to the point. This one neuroscientist tries to being to answer the one question on every dog owner's mind: 'what is my dog thinking?' He devises a training routine to train his little dog to sit very still in an MRI machine, and the results basically confirm what dog owners have known forever, dogs love us and think about us. It's a pretty cool journey. I'm mega oversimplifying the results too, but the process this scientist went through with his little dog is just so great. This is real live shit still going on now! If you google the authors name, tons of interesting shit pops up!

Pretty sciency, interesting, and I'm glad I read it. I wished for a little more "decoding", though.
