I enjoyed the TV series and I wanted to know how much of it was true. Also, there was supposed to be a fourth season but it was cancelled due to cost, so I wanted to know how things ended. This book satisfied my needs. The TV series is a drama so they took liberties, but the gist of their story was true. It is an interesting period in history and I plan to read more about renaissance Italy. The Borgias was an interesting vignette on, well, the Borgias. It read quickly and the author did not get bogged down in the minutia of the 15th century history but stuck to the main interesting events. I like that he started with Rodrigo's rise to power and concluded with the demise of his children and what happened to their offspring. The Borgias had it all from the intense love and loyalty of family to the corruption and even murder they were willing to perform for that same love and loyalty. It made me glad I did not live during those dark times!
