About book Horrible Harry And The Dungeon (1998)

Horrible Harry and the Dungeon, by Suzy Kline, is a book about how Harry goes and tries to see how the dungeon is like. The main character is Harry. The book takes place in a school. Harry’s main internal struggle is that he wants to know about the dungeon. His main external struggle is that he’s always getting in trouble with an adult.tDuring my time reading this book I made a text-to-text connection. There was a part in the book where Harry tries to see the dungeon. That reminded me of all the Horrible Harry books. They both are always interested in something. They learn that it’s okay to be really interested in something as long as you don’t get yourself in trouble.tI would give this book 3 star. I liked the funniness in the book. I wouldn’t give this book 5 star because the book is easy for me. I would recommend this book to someone who likes easy books. I would also recommend this book to someone who likes books with some humor in it.

This is another interesting story in the Horrible Harry series by Suzy Kline and Frank Remkiewicz. We've already read a couple of these stories out of order and found them to be funny, short, and entertaining. So we decided to start reading the series from the beginning. This story shows what lengths Harry will go to in order to discover what's going on in the dungeon as well as to protect his friend. It's a fun story to read aloud and we enjoyed reading it together. I expect we'll be visiting with Horrible Harry again very soon.

Do You like book Horrible Harry And The Dungeon (1998)?

A very brief chapter book directed at second graders. As with the first book, Kline deals with themes that second graders wonder about, but makes them funny by using silly or surprising characters. Her Harry is a trouble-maker, but (unlike Junie B. Jones) he’s not rude or crude, and he has a heart and a brain. In this book, the feared study hall room turns out to be an interesting place, and the bizarre-looking male teacher a very nice guy. One sour note is the character of Song Lee, who speaks in a rather stereotyped broken English. But on the whole, a much better choice than that unpleasant Junie Jones for second graders. The illustrations are great.
