This is the first book I read by Jaci Burton mainly because I stay away from most contemporary romances. I picked this book up just so I can vary my genres even more and thought this would be a very cute love story - and it is. If you're looking for a love story that doesn't have a lot of twists and turns and concentrates on the romance between the characters - this is the book for you. I'm definitely gonna read more books by Jaci Burton. Emma is independent and driven enough to purchase a vet's office and become the best vet in town. Luke is a cop who's already been divorced and doesn't want to go down that street again. The book hints of Emma's past including an abusive relationship so of course there is no shock when said abuser shows up. Luke and Emma are attracted to one another and start something but neither one labels it. They have fun and when drug break ins threaten Emma, Luke moves in to Emma's house to protect her. Emma fears she is depending on Luke too much and asks him to leave. The story was sort of blah, and I skimmed through a lot of it. Very predictable and not really exciting.
I don't know why I'm giving this 3 stars...it was so boring. Yawn.
