About book Historias Color Tierra 3. Los Pequeños Cuentos De Mi Madre (2003)

This series should've been called "How Many Times Can We Talk About Flowers and Butterflies in One Book" or "How to Use Way Too Many Metaphors and Bore Your Audience" or maybe "Weird Facial Expressions, Random Corporal Punishment, Misandry AND Misogyny, plus Bonus: Surprise Floppy Boobs." This trilogy quickly degraded in quality in terms of the story, though the artwork was always nice. I don't ever want to hear about flowers and butterflies ever again though. The third book of this beautiful graphic "color" series explores sexual development and expression from the perspective of 19th century Korean women. The conversation is poetic and symbolic – flowers, butterflies, snow, etc. The drawings, too, are often symbolic using icons similar to those of the words. I was much impressed by the ability of the author to convey information through the drawings.
