About book High Price: A Neuroscientist's Journey Of Self-Discovery That Challenges Everything You Know About Drugs And Society (2013)

As an autobiography, it was very enlightening and taught me a lot about what it's like to be a young black man. I kept waiting for the book to go into detail about the science of drug use and abuse, but that did not really happen. The author gives us tantalizing glimpses of knowledge, but he ultimately relies more on anecdotes to make his point. I still found the book convincing and well worth reading, but I wanted more of the science. Educational book and inspiring story. I could have used a little more hard science but understand this book is targeted to reach a broad audience, as it should be. Drug policy is a failure and though slowly moving in the right direction, the debunked myths and mis-education exposed by the author through his own research and the research of others needs to be shared far and wide to speed up the process of undoing the decades of misguided laws, punishments, and stigmas.
