On a dark, dark night, Eliza Brown settled down to read her bedtime book as all the animals did in Burrow Down. That’s when the Snatchabook flew into town! Mysteriously the animal’s bedtime books started to disappear, one by one, until their book shelves were empty. Eliza was determined to figure out this puzzling problem. So she sets a trap and lays awake, waiting for the book thief. What Eliza catches is a little winged creature called a Snatchabook. He was taking the books because he had no one to read to him. Together, Eliza and the Snatchabook made a plan, to return all the books and make a wrong into a right! From that moment forward all the animals included Snatchabook when they read their bedtime stories. This is an enjoyable book that puts the emphasis back into bedtime reading! A creative rhyming text that is so rhythmic it begs to be read out loud. The charming illustrations are beautifully drawn with a perfect blend of watercolors, creating a treat for the eye. The cutaway views of the animal’s burrows gives the reader a glimpse into the various types of books being read at bedtime as well as the shock they all feel when the books go missing. I would definitely recommend this book to children aged 3-6. This book has two important topics, the first is that stealing is bad and the second is that everyone like a book read to them, especially children. Snatchabook promotes parents to read to or with their kids, a very important part of early literacy. The snatchabook by Halen Docherty was a book about taking things from others is never okay. As i read the book Alize was one of the main characters she loves bedtime stories. One day she realized her favorite book was gone. She didn't know why some one would take her favorite book. The thief was barrowing books because he didnt have anyone that could read to him, no mom or dad. Its a fun little story to read to children and help them understand its never okay to take someone else stuff without asking. Rhythm is used in the book to help kids get a better understanding.
