About book Hell On Two Wheels: An Astonishing Story Of Suffering, Triumph, And The Most Extreme Endurance Race In The World (2011)
I really liked this book. Some reviews commented that the authors writing was redundant and too much detail about things like edema and chamois butter. I didn't find that at all. I liked all those details. The way she wrote the story made me really curious what was going to happen. Even though she knew what happened, she still kept you on the edge of your seat and didn't give anything away to soon. If you're interested in a good adventure cycling story, this is a good one. Great book! Amy Snyder definitely gives a sense of what a huge, complex, maddening, psychologically and physically challenging undertaking RAAM really is. This covers the main contenders of the 2009 race and is full of detail, some suspense and surprises along the way. I appreciated the time she took really getting into this race, her notes on sources and also the post race followup interviews she conducted. Great pictures too!Anyone who rides a bike - as a commuter or for fitness or who loves getting the insight into top caliber ultra distance cyclists will be engrossed. Thanks Amy!
