About book Heated (2014)

Heated, is book two in the Most Wanted series, crafted by J. Kenner. The novel catapults the reader into the unbalanced worlds of Detective Sloane Watson, and Tyler Sharp. Sloane has quite the case weighing on her when her friend has gone missing and it’s Sloane’s job to find her. With little to no leads on the case, she must turn to her only option for information. Information she can only get from Tyler Sharp. Kenner puts the novel into a spotlight with a focus on young adults, primarily female, interest. She creates a flood of emotions through suspicion, desire, and a fear that most girls are all too familiar with, heartbreak. As Sloane seeks out Mr. Sharp, she is greeted with a charming attitude and a warm smile. She begins to develop a crazy attraction for him the minute they meet. Of course that wasn’t part of the plan, especially due to the fact that she is a cop and Sharp tends to cling to the wrong side of the law. The duet of Tyler Sharp and Sloane Watson gradually increase in friction as they discover more about each other, and without any further of due, a relationship is born. This book had absolutely everything it needed to be at the top of the list. It had a relatable female lead, who was guarded with her own walls that could be potentially broken down by a beautiful, mysterious man. The novel had a great opportunity for an epic love story, in addition to high potential for an exciting mystery. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what I did not get! The love between Sloane and Tyler seemed to happen overnight. It almost was as if they were in love before they even met! The story had hardly developed before the reader is thrown into a downpour of obsession raining from each of the two main characters. Everything felt way too rushed and extremely cliché, you could practically tell what cheesy line was going to be said next. I really wanted, and needed, more of the interaction between the couple, other than the constant hardcore intimacy that was endured page after page. There could’ve been so much more to the overall story, but not much was elaborated on, other than the ‘love’ making. And I use that term loosely. Regarding the missing friend, within the first few chapters she is no longer the primary focus. While I fully understand that the novel is categorized as erotic romance, it was just too much. I've never been in love, and novelist J. Kenner does anything but enlighten me on the subject. If you want to read a story with intense intimacy built off a relationship of substance, this is not the book for you. Heated is the next installment of the Most Wanted series by J. Kenner. We are introduced to Sloane a dedicated detective and Tyler the suave ladies’ man/possible criminal mastermind and the second of the Three Dog Knights. Although Tyler and Evan seem to have a lot of the same vocabulary that I almost thought that they were the same person, I did enjoy the book. It is very hot and maybe a little cheesy. As with the first book there isn’t a lot of” he loves me-he loves me not”. The book centers on the instant connection between two total strangers Sloane and Tyler in other words every feminine fantasy. I enjoyed this series and hope to read Ignited the third in the series.
