I really enjoyed getting to read Ha'ven's story after having been introduced to him in other books in the Dragon Lord's of Valdier series. It was a touching story of how two tortured souls come together and heal one another. I do think he should be honest with his two closest friends Creon and Vox about their powers. He knows their secrets and think they have proven their loyalty. Otherwise great book. Ha'ven's Song is S.E. Smith's first book in her Curizan Warrior series. Each book can be read as a stand alone story but the novel does feature characters introduced in her Dragon Lords of Valdier series. You can understand this book without reading the other series but I do recommend reading the Lords of Valdier series, great sci-fi romance series. In Ha'ven's Song, Ha'ven has no desire for a mate but once he meets earth girl Emma Watson, his opinion quickly changes. Emma was rescued by the Lords of Valdier in a previous book. After being tortured by a drug lord, Emma has retreated into her mind. In this book, S.E. Smith has a nice balance of romance and action/adventure plot.Since I have read all of S.E. Smith's books, I was excited to read what the Curizan Warrior's "power" was going to be. It was interesting and definitely explains how they can hold their own against dragon shifters. If you like Sci-Fi romance, I highly recommend this book.
