Whya 5 star rating? This is a laugh-out-loud, seriously hilarious book you will want to read over and over. With one of the funniest characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading, this story will make you want to relive your childhood!Plot Summary:"Harris and Me" by Gary Paulsen illustrates the adventurous and humorous summer of two young boys. Our 11 year old "city boy" narrator is sent to live with his second cousins on their farm for the summer. Upon arriving, he meets nine year old Harris and the two beome fast friends. Harris teaches him everything about the farm and also about how to get into a lot of trouble! This story is full of adventure, crazy ideas, and hilarious situations that a reader of any age would love. Character Descriptions:Narrator: Our narrator is used to the city life and is undoubtedly out of place when he arrives on the Larson farm. He gets to work right away but doesn't expect the back breaking labor he ends up having to do. For most of the book, our narrator simply follows Harris' lead. He knows that pretty much everything Harris wants to do is going to end in disaster but he goes along with it anyway. It isn't until the very end where we see him start to stick up for himself a bit. While the narrator is a bit of a follower, he is also a fast learner. He picks up on the idiosyncrasies of all of his new house mates very quickly and learns the ropes on the farm too. Harris Larson: Harris is one wild kid; he loves adventure, fighting, and swearing. Very dynamic and ready for anything, you can't help but fall in love with Harris. He is extremely convincing, a great liar, and a quick thinker, which all together, is a recipe for disaster in his case. Key Issues:farm (farming), Philippines, alcoholism, drunk, friendship, family, deputy, cousins, childhood
This story is laugh outloud funny. My husband doesn't share my appreciation and love for reading so in my constant attempt to get him to enjoy reading more I read this book outloud with him and even he couldn't help but laugh at the main character and his adventures with his cousin Harris. Do You like book Harris And Me (2007)?
description: This book had a few themes in it like growing up and taking responsibility for ones actions, but most importantly this book is one filled with humor. It's a true story about Gary Paulsens childhood one summer and a recollection of some crazy memories. why its meaningful to me: It has been years since i read this book, and yet the story has stayed with me all this time. I think the reason I love and remember this book is because it was truly the first glimpse of raunchy, teenage behavior I was ever given. In one chapter Gary convinces his cousin Harris to pee on an electric fence... you can guess what happens from there. Now if I read that in a book i would find it amusing, but at ten i thought it was the funniest thing I had ever heard of. I have great memories of reading this book, and it actually taught me a lot about the comedies of teenage life.

Gary Paulsen has done it again. He created an imaginative story about a bot who is not named, who lives his life moving from relative to relative. But when he moves to a farm in a remote area of Minnesota. The story follows Harris and supposedly Gary Paulsen as the main characters. Harris is a very hyperactive nine year old who loves to make up fun adventures. Although Glennis, Harris's older sister doesn't usually like it. Harris and Me follows Harris and Gary Paulsen as they spent the summer having fun and breaking a few rules as they go. Harris loves to have fun, but has a different definition of fun then most people do. His idea of fun is (without knowing it) getting into trouble. However, the main characters idea of fun is a little different. He doesn't really like what Harris is trying to get him to do, but he goes along with him anyways.I would recommend this book because it's very interesting, and even though I don't normally like non-fiction books, this was very good. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Gary Paulsen books, or to anyone who likes non-fiction books. I liked most of the book, mainly the funny or interesting parts. But some parts of the book went really deep into description. Those were the only parts that I didn't like. But other than that, I would highly recommend you read this book.

Everything's going be different for the 11 year old city boy who was sent to live with his aunt and uncle on their farm for the summer. He isn't used to anything that goes on around the farm, and when he meets his cousin Harris, things get even more different. Harris gets into all of the trouble he can handle including pig wrestling and many other adventures. The two's personality's clash making it exciting and unpredictable.I really enjoyed this book. Gary Paulsen did a very good job of writing it. It kept me interested the whole time without dragging things on for to long. It was pretty funny as well. His techniques worked nicely. The only thing I didn't like was some things seemed unrealistic but overall it is a well written book.I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. Like I said, the book kept me entertained all the way through. It would be good for all ages and the humor was great!
