First book focuses on a strong, female lead and a hacker, male sidekick. Erica definitely strikes me as a succeed or fail personalitiy type. For me, this book seems to drag a little but the author lays the ground work for a great plot. I felt I lived Erica and Blake's lives on a day to day bases, which distracted me from what is going on around them. They have to deal with a new budding relationship while controlling their business side. While Erica battles her demons, including Mark, she debates the wisdom of dating Blake. Is he really that bad? To trust or not to trust, or which is the lesser evil? Blake or Max? What is going to happen with Alli and Heath? Will Erica's business really stand up to the expectations? Looking forward to more.. I have been hearing about this Hacker series for quite some time now, and have seen it compared to Fifty Shades.. I thought, why not give it a try? First of all, I don't think it needs to be compared to the other trilogy, as I did think that majority of it stood alone within its own story. Yes, there is a millionaire, but Blake is different then Christian. Not only does he have his own business's; but he has quite the past which includes rumors of him being a hacker at one time. He even almost went to jail for his hacking skills. The question remains though, does he continue to use those skills, or has he cleaned up his act fully. Blake Landon has secrets, there is no doubt about that. He also falls very hard for an aspiring business owner/college student named Erica. They meet when she is pitching the idea of her business to a group of investors. Blake gives her a run for her money, and makes her presentation very difficult. Even though, she sees a sexy man in front of her, she doesn't like him at all. He is persistant though, and eventually these two begin an explosive affair! Erica is not all she seems to be either though, and the secrets that are hidden in her past, are doozies. When they are revealed, Blake will do anything in his power to try and erase the pain and suffering that has been delivered to HIS Erica.I found the story to be a very slow start. In fact, the first 50% dragged on for me and it was just a little too much detail into the business aspect of Erica's life. When I read a romance novel, I enjoy the romance, the sex, and also the secrets etc...The good news is that it did pick up, and once it did I became way more interested in what was going on. Erica and Blake both have secrets under their belts, and we do learn some of them. I am sure in book two there will be more to come; and I do look forward to finding out more. I did become annoyed with Erica's somewhat, hot and cold attitude towards Blake. He seems to be fully invested into her in all ways; where as she gets upset and immediately walks away from him. I found this to be frustrating, especially because she would walk away, and then pine for him the whole time they were apart. It got to me at times, and I'm hoping that theme will not continue in Book two. Blake did deserve some of the grief she gave him though, as he over steps her boundaries more than a few times. So, he has a lot to learn as well. I do look forward to seeing if this couple will grow as individuals, as well as a couple in Book two. This is for sure a trilogy that I will continue, and hopefully enjoy right to the end.
