I'm not sure why I bought this when I had just read the first book, but although there is some overlap, it is not too much and there is enough new content to make this an interesting story in its own right. Escaping from Gypsy life as a gay teenager hasn't really bought happiness, just more heartache and confusion. It must have been so hard for him to write both books, a reminder of his abused past. I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.What a heartfelt story. I did not read the first book, Gypsy Boy, but was able to just start reading this one. After years of abuse from a relative he finally gets up the courage to leave his family even though leaving hurt him about as much as the abuse he was receiving. Years go by and he is able to meet his family and finds out the relative that abused him is now doing it to one of his younger brothers and helps to try and stop it. He is also able to get himself schooling since he never really got any when he was younger. His future is looking bright, my hope is that he is able to finally find love and happiness with all that he's been through.
