Judt's big point is that we need relearn the discourse of equality and public good. In that he is definitely right. Future editions beg for an editor The foundational problem here is that Judt cannot grasp his intended audience. If Social Democracy is needed, in some form, and the people do not understand it from Socialism, then they need to be educated. This book would be a great start for them, except it would fail fantastically at such an effort due to the above. Consequently, this book is for Social Democrats as a support mechanism.
