So while I have to say that this book was a day late, and since I got it from the library, a dollar short, it is a good and interesting book. It would have been a fantastic book when I was first starting to get into cooking, since it would have answered so many of the questions that I generally ended up having to call and ask people I knew that cooked or try and find online without really knowing what it was that I was looking for. If you are deciding that you want to break out of the cycle of your four basic food groups being, boxed, bottled, canned and bagged, than this is the book for you. Cooking is an improvement over frozen and fast food no matter how good, or great you are. It can also help improve your health. And sometimes it can in fact be fun. This book is a great first step in that process. Love the science behind the cooking and all the innovative ways to look at cooking and baking!! The interviews were terrific and references were great especially with the blogging!! And the recipes are so great!Not a great cookbook if you are just looking for recipes with little extra explanations -- this is a book full of explaining from measuring to tools to food safety to all sorts of factoids.
