Would you sell your cell phone to the devil? What if in return he made you gorgeous? Allison Avery sold her cell phone to the devil. This book is fiction. In this book Allison sells her phone to the devil. She didn't sell it physically but the devil can control it. In return the devil makes 6 people think that she’s gorgeous. Roxie, the new girl in town, befriends her and soon they become best friends. They end up going to a modeling competition and they call up Allison for a photo shoot. This book takes place in a suburb outside of New York City. Allison is described as the interesting looking girl in her family. She has big eyes and is the only dark-haired girl in the family while Quinn and Phoebe are blonde and beautiful. Quinn is the oldest and is the smart and good child of the family. Phoebe is the smallest and she’s popular, and innocent. They both strive in school while Allison doesn't really try. Tyler is the good looking jock that most of the girls end up falling for. Roxie is a new girl that quickly becomes popular.I honestly thought that this book was really good. It was funny and it certainly was a page-turner. One funny part in the book was when Allison dresses up for a project and ends up using a plunger for a leg as her character. She then ends up falling and embarrasses herself in front of Tyler. To me this book is text to world. Many girls would do anything to become gorgeous or pretty. They would go through drastic things just to become pretty and they later end up regretting it like Allison. Although I didn't find many things that were similar in my life, they were similar to many lives of other girls. Just like Allison, some girls have beautiful sisters while they themselves aren't exactly pretty but interesting looking. Some of those girls end up doing many things to become gorgeous and to get noticed. Overall I thought that this book was a 10 out of 10 and I recommend this book to anyone that doesn't feel gorgeous or good enough for someone. I rated it a 10 out of 10 because I liked how it made me laugh various times throughout the book and how it made me turn the page and not stop reading. I decided to read this book because the blurb interested me and it seemed like a book I would enjoy. This novel is about a 16 year old girl called Allison Avery who befriends the new girl, the beautiful Roxie Green. Allison meets the devil and wants to be gorgeous so she sells something to the devil. Not her soul, but her cellphone. This book fits in the category on the bingo board of "your own choice." I think this category was good to have on the board because then I can read something that is not necessarily confined to one category. My favorite quote from this book is after Allison got off the phone with Roxie; "But the devil was right: Telling who has your best interests at heart is not an easy trick." I like this quote because it reflects the way that Allison's friendships are going. Her friendship with Jade is slowly getting weaker but she is building a stronger friendship with Roxie each day. This quote shows that even though she has been good friends with Jade for many years it doesn't necessarily mean she has her best interests at heart, but Roxie might. Quality not quantity.Something knew I learnt from this book is that family is very important, because when you friends seem to be moving on, your family will always be there. This is shown throughout the book because Allison's friendships are on and off but he relationship with her family stays strong.A character that was interesting in the book to me was Roxie because she had faith in Allison that she could win the modelling contest, even though Allison gave up in the end. Roxie was one of my favourite characters because she was a good friend to Allison and her personality kept the story interesting because she would often change her perspective/mood on things and it kept me engaged.I quite enjoyed this novel because it was a good story and it was something that could happen, but with a twist (the devil). I liked it because it wasn't predictable and it had an interesting twist to it. I give it 4 out of 5.
Do You like book Gorgeous (2009)?
Very good. I think I'll like Quinn's book the best.
