About book Gone With The Wolf (2013)

First of all, let me say that the cover model looks exactly like Faye Dunaway. But no one is a thief here. Oh wait, it depends who you ask! I liked that the romance was immediate and believable. There was a villain, as all good stories must have. The stupid-man moment was great! He just didn't get it, poor guy. I really enjoyed how the author put her own spin on werewolf lore.I received this copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. I thought this story started off really good with the couple in the cellar. I had expected some high flying sparks after that. Though they did have some sparks, I just didn't feel that attraction between them. I didn't connect with them or this story. I felt the story had potential with the the direction the author was trying to take it in. However, I felt this one fell flat for me. I felt this book did more "telling" then "showing". I'm not normally one to be irritated by that yet this time, however, I wanted to see things unfold as the story was told, not summarized on how things happened. I felt we got more "showing" from late middle to end. I thought we would get a little more action/drama with Drake's secretary yet... that didn't happen. She seemed to have dreamy eyes for him so why didn't we get a little action there? I also felt that Drake's Beta, Mr. Bloomfield, was a bit too formal and stiff for my liking as well. When Emelia went to work for Drake, as his personal secretary, I didn't like how she behaved by destroying some documents because she was upset over this injustice she felt against him. I also didn't like that humans who were turned in to were-wolves, could only turn at a full moon yet the ones who were born to that lifestyle could turn any time. One last thing. I felt the guy on the cover didn't portray Drake's physical appearance very well. Over all, I just couldn't connect with this story.
