About book God, If You're Not Up There...: Tales Of Stand-up, Saturday Night Live, And Other Mind-Altering Mayhem (2012)
I never wrote a review of this! If you're interested in snl, comedy, drug addictions, or just the lives of struggling artist, then this is a must read. Admittedly, Hammond can sometimes come off as an unlike able person, but he quickly agrees with your sentiments and becomes endearing again as you realize that this is as much of a confession as it is a memoir. If I could describe this book in a few words possible I would call it: "brutally honest." It would be a cliche if it weren't so often true--our funniest comics are born of tragic circumstances. Childhoods don't come much crueler than Hammond's, and the SNL impressionist didn't do himself any favors as he got older with his overindulgences. Yep, while he was playing Al Gore, he was pretty effed up on crack.Hammond doesn't spend a lot of time feeling sorry for himself, and he's a sympathetic character. He's getting help but one gets the idea that he's not there yet, practically falling into yet another relapse as he pens his epilogue.Get better, Darrell.
Do You like book God, If You're Not Up There...: Tales Of Stand-up, Saturday Night Live, And Other Mind-Altering Mayhem (2012)?
Seems to be more about the behind the scenes of SNL the about his life.
