About book God Believes In Love: Straight Talk About Gay Marriage (2012)
This is a compelling, compassionate, and Scripturally-sound book. I was moved to tears more than once, but it's not just an emotional appeal. Robinson urges the reader to understand that equality should be the goal of everyone and outlines the reasons clearly, concisely, and beautifully. The best part of this book is its brevity. He doesn't wax poetic, but instead uses his skills as a communicator to list, explain, and demonstrate. I could probably write a book on the theological and practical disagreements I hold with the author, but I will just say this - I understand the author's heart, and I have listened to his story as he asks us to do (45). We arrive at such different opinions because we disagree on three things: 1) who God is, 2) how marriage is defined in the Scriptures, and 3) what love is from the pages of Scripture. I leave the book deeply saddened yet hopeful in God's love at the ultimate sacrifice of Christ in the cross that He would reconcile myself and Mr. Robinson to Himself.
