About book Girl Meets Ghost (2013)

While this wouldn't have gotten a five star rating from me personally, I'm bumping it up to five because my nine year old daughter, (who's actually in the target audience) loves this book. It's one of her favorites. And I can see why she enjoyed it. It's very cute and fun, and the mystery is well done. But the tween voice bugged me a bit. Word shortening, ie totes, gorge for gorgeous, is a pet peeve of mine and there's a lot of it in the book. That said, the voice felt right for the age, the slang never seemed forced. And, as I said before, I'm not exactly the target audience. ;)Overall, a very cute read and I will probably read the next one. (My daughter has already read book two and is eagerly waiting to get book three.) Kendall has seen ghosts all her life. She helps them with their unfinished business so the can "move on". But when ghostly gymnast, Daniella appears needing help, Kendall is not in the mood. See Kendall has just started sort of dating hunky Brandon Dunham and she does not need interuptions, particularly the invisible kind. This book was fun. I read it during my lunch hours so it took a while but sometimes I had no reading time at all. The characters were fun and truly sounded their age. I hope to see Kendall and gang again soon.
