About book Gillian Flynn CD Audiobook Bundle: Gone Girl; Dark Places; Sharp Objects (2013)
This starts off captivating the reader into the life of Camille and her relatable character. Camille is a journalist of a small time paper and is sent back to her hometown, when it appears that their maybe a serial killer on the loose killing little girls. The weird thing about the string of murders is that the children are not sexually abused, their teeth are pulled and then they are strangled to death. Also the first two murders are over a year apart.Because it is a small town, the people who live there believe it maybe a homeless person who lives in the woods, but the police force is beginning to think that the killer may very well be someone that is known to them all. This book is also about Camille's family dynamic and how dysfunctional it is, and how she deals with her issues of growing up in a loveless home. I do not want to go into any more detail, so that I don't ruin it for you as the reader. I believe this to be a worthwhile read, just not as good as Gone Girl, but seeing as this was written beforehand, she just hadn't matured as a writer yet, which only means it can only get better from here on in. This is Gillian Flynn's chilling debut novel, set in the small suffocating town of Wind Gap. Camille returns to her home town on a journalistic assignment to cover two child murders for her Chicago paper. The penetrating descriptions of the town and its inhabitants create an atmosphere at once surreal and menacing. However the chief success of the book lies in the exploration of destructive family relationships. Flynn has a talent for injecting unease into her narratives, never allowing her readers the security of guessing the next step in her plot.
