This is a cute cozy mystery complete with a homey bookstore, cats, and ghosts. I'm a little disappointed at the ending, though. Because Willa is suffering from some inexplicable memory loss, she doesn't understand the killer's motives and the reader is left in the dark as to what is really going on in the town. The sense of incompleteness makes for an unsatisfying read. I suppose the next book in the series will clear up some of these details. I'm somewhat conflicted about this book. I liked it as the mystery was pretty good and it had a new twist on the paranormal cozy genre but there were a few things that kept it from being a four star book in my mind.First of all, the author's writing style came across as being rather unsophisticated. The author's bio indicates she likes to read so I would have expected her to learn from other author's successes and mistakes. I'm hoping the author's style matures as she works her way thru the series. Second, the main character, Willa, comes across as immature for her age and experience. I expected a more worldly and street-wise character given her background as a big city crime reporter. Finally, Willa didn't know how to step back and look at the whole picture. Instead she would fixate on a suspect to the exclusion of all others even when the evidence was staring her in the face.All that said, I plan to give this series another shot and am actually looking forward to the next book where I expect more will be revealed about this quirky town and its inhabitants. Recommended with a few reservations.
