About book Ghost Walk (2008)

This is just a sidenote...those who haven't read Brian Keene's book "Dark hollow" are going to want to read that one before they read this one, because this book gives away the end (and the middle and the beginning and everything in-between) of that book, and I think that book is a great read as well. I'll be honest though, the ending of that book bothered me, and now, after reading this book, I feel vindicated. I'm not going to say why, because that would spoil the ending of both "Ghost Walk" AND "Dark Hollow," but I will say that something that always bothered me about the conclusion of "Dark Hollow" is cleared up here and I got to hear someone finally say what I was thinking after finishing that book, and it was a good feeling. Sometimes as fans we read author's books and we get attached to characters, and that happened to me with "Dark Hollow," and then I finished the book and wanted to climb inside the book and scream at one of the characters, but I got to hear a character in "Ghost Walk" say what I was thinking, so I feel better now, since I lack the ability to climb into books and talk to the characters myself. End rant.Brian Keene really knows how to make me feel for his characters. even when I want to scream at them, I usually understand why they make the choices that they do, and I feel bad for them. This book is another one of those books that is very emotional for me, plus it has a creepy premise and a lot of scares, so I appreciated that aspect. This book also has a great Halloween setting and atmosphere, and Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I dug that, too. It kind of makes me want to visit more haunted house attractions this year, though I'd prefer to skip the "being consumed and killed by living darkness" aspect of the attraction. Ghost Walk is the second book I've read by Brian Keene. It's a sequel of sorts to Dark Hallow and I wouldn't recommend it as standalone. Ghost Walk was entertaining enough and serves as a good break between more demanding books. This dark god vs powwow magician of a tale was however wrapped up too quickly and felt a tad underdeveloped. My main gripe is that Keene tries way too hard to give each and every single one of his protagonists a tragic past and instead of being moved, this particular reader ended up sniggering (I know, that's bad). Still it was kind of fun, but with reservations. This is categorized as horror but nay, nay it tastes like urban fantasy.

Do You like book Ghost Walk (2008)?

Not a bad read, but it could have been better. Suppose to be a horror book, missing alot of horror.

All build up and no payoff. I know Keene is capable of so much more then what was supplied.

5/10The story is nothing special but Keene's excellent writing makes up for it.

It kinda' dragged until about the 13th chapter.
