Though the book I got to know Kevin Mitnick. He was a hacker who never stole peoples' money. He only profited once when he figured out how to make fast phone calls to a radio station. The radio station gave away $1000 to the seventh caller which he got all most every time. The media and FBI made false allegation saying he was more dangerous then he actually was. He caused a lot of trouble for cporporation and the FBI. He eventually went on the run and was cought. He spent some time in jail. There was a movie make about him. I would recommend this book to a friend. Most people will not like this book because it has way to much techno-babble. It's not that the book is incomprehensible. you don't even need to have a good knowledge of the technology the author is talking about to understand what's going on because he generally stays at a high level or explains what he's doing. But there's so much of it that non-technical readers will begin to zone out fairly quickly. Also, you may get annoyed at the author by how unrepentant he is at his crimes. He often goes to great pains to point out how harmless his intentions were, while completely ignoring all the collateral headaches he causes.If you don't care much about those two flaws, this is great read.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in security and computer networks.
