About book George Harrison: Living In The Material World (2011)
The five-star rating is for hardcore Beatles fans only, who will find a wealth of pictures previously unpublished to sate their desire for even more views of Beatles. Others may or may not care for the mix of photos (yes, lots of them, many taken by George himself) and comments about Harrison by his friends and fellow travelers.I wouldn't buy it, but it was a great read. If I learned nothing else, I learned that George really DID garden, day and night. My grandmother would've been proud. This is for the iBooks ebook edition:Marvelous! Great pics and stories with short audio/video clips throughout. A joy.Not a comprehensive biography, as mentioned by several others, but stands on it's own. If you are any more than a passing fan you'll probably know most of the stories. Sounds like the film might fill in some details; I haven't seen it.The ebook is cool, many more than 5 stars, it is the formatting that suffers. Text font and color are not changeable; grey text on a white background can be difficult to read. Has to be landscape, which is a pity for some of the pictures.Checked the book out at the library, went with the ebook for portability and space considerations.
