This book gave new meaning to the phrase "freely adapted." I knew it'd be different from the episode in the UK TV series, but really....Book version: Old man Peachment is killed for a cache of ancient and medieval coins hidden in his house.TV version: Old man Peachment is murdered because of his institutionalized child abuse in his charity home.I liked the TV version better. Although both versions have a huge shocker of an ending. Didn't see this one coming at all. O__o Book gets an extra star for that.And I highly recommend the TV series. Unfortunately it looks like it's been canceled. *sniff*
