I'm a World Book Night giver, and I'm excited to give out my chosen book, Botany of Desire. When I picked up my box of books, the librarian said she'd received an extra box and suggested that I give those out as well. So I took the box and read the book -- Same Difference. Quick read. I had anticipated giving it to middle-school and high-school kids. However, the text was liberally sprinkled with objectionable words and unfortunate references. Maybe this is common fare, especially for older teens, but I can't in good conscience give or recommend it to middle schoolers or even high school students. I don't want to promote this, so I'm returning the box to the librarian. That said, the story itself is rather sweet, if slight. Nice! Two post high school young adults grow up a little. This is a lovely little book, a great little slice-of-life story. The characters are fun and feel three-dimensional. The story flows nicely. Everyone's actions feel in character and not just plot contrivances. The people at First Second did a bang-up job on the packaging. I like the effect of the clear overlay book jacket with the fish on it. All in all, this is a wonderful book, both in form and content.

It was a nice story but slightly lacking. It would have been nice if it was just a bit longer.
