I would give this book an even higher rating if I were to rate the person, Gabrielle Giffords, herself. She is definitely 5 star material! It is ironic that I picked this book up at a thrift store and just happened to finish reading it on the anniversary of the shooting. It certainly helped me understand why she chose to go skydiving and create a better memory for this date. Although I get the impression that Gabby's relationship with Mark was working just fine with their unique careers and locations, it still felt a bit "off" to know they were physically apart so much. But the book is a valuable read in getting to know all that she struggled with to get back to the life and work she so loved. This was one of the books on my book groups reading list. I think at some point in time I would have probably picked this book as one to read especially after seeing a special on TV about Gabby and her progress after the shooting. What an incredible woman with a lot of fight in her. For some reason I thought she was at least 10 years older than myself but it turns out we are much closer in age. That is when I realized that her drive for public service reminded me of many of my fellow classmates that wanted to change the world when we were in high school. The only downside I found to the book is it skips around and goes over things a couple of times. Gabby is a remarkable woman.
