This book just isn't as engaging as it could have been. The main concept of the book is interesting but the narrative just doesn't work. The author can write and I wanted to know how the book ended but the characters were too distracting and poorly conceptualized. I couldn't empathize with the main character, Freya, or any of the characters in general. I found her annoying and whiny. I understand that the author was trying to introduce a non-standard character type by giving Freya autistic tendencies but it seems more of like a farce than real. The development of the secondary characters and how they interact and treat Freya is also appalling. I didn't pay any money for the ebook and I'm glad about that. Interesting premise for the world but it was frustrating how little/slowly information was revealed about it. Such as details of the different species and how they compare with the elves, the general life span/flow of time for the elves, the difference in magic, etc. not to mention the frustration I had with the characters inability to actually talk to other people and her immaturity. I got the book off amazon for free, it was an interesting idea but I don't think the execution really hit home. I won't by buying the sequals, though I did appreciate the take on the fantasy world, not normally taken.
Do You like book Frey (2011)?
It was good. I didn't realize the book Frey was reading was actually about her family.

Again another slow start but I overlook slow starts now. Incredible book.

Started kind of slow but was worth it in the end. Compelling story.
