Are you thinking "What's this, a three-star review by Gina? She doesn't do those." If you are, you are observant. I do not usually bother with three-star reviews because I could be off reading my next book instead of taking the time to post a review like this. I'm making an exception because I was so disappointed by Jill and Brian's love story. I couldn't get into either character, and I didn't get my "falling in love" fix that I crave from romance novels. Even if I don't compare it to "Nora Roberts Land," (the first book in the series) it doesn't stack up. Here's the problem in a nutshell; Jill is supposed to be a college grad and a business wizard, but she doesn't have the emotional maturity to put normal relationships into perspective. Brian's character was shallow to the point that I couldn't root for him either. All of the words were there on the pages, but they didn't take me on the magic carpet ride I was after. The intangible "something" was missing. I would give this more 2.5 stars than three, but I am definitely in the minority here. I could not stand how hormonal and immature Jill was. She is supposed to be a business owner, but she doesn't seem as dedicated in this book than in the last. I think Brian needed to stand up for himself more too rather than letting everyone walk all over him. I liked the first book a lot and felt the second book fell short.
