Wonderfully fascinating. It took me a really long time to figure out what was happening. I didn't realize that so much of the book was leading up to the event that it circles around. Still, so interesting that I could barely put it down. This book provides a detailed account of two very different lives. Absolutely recommend this book to anyone and everyone, although it does have some vivid descriptions of violence. (This vividity is consistent throughout the book, though!) Strange novel about two boys growing up in 60s/70s California (if I recall correctly) ... details the punk and gay scenes. The strange thing is that for one of the boys, the author doesn't reveal his gender until he comes out as gay to his family. I wasn't sure why the author did this ... to make the reader uncomfortable about imagining him as a girl, perhaps? I didn't, but I also knew beforehand that the story would be half about a gay boy. Overall: HMMMMMMM
It was a strong inspirational book. It was moving made me want to cry I absolutely loved it!!!
